About me

Welcome to my world of artistry and innovation. I’m Rick Pinnone, an independent designer and researcher, on a mission to blend technology and natural elements to create a more beautiful world.

I studied aesthetics and pedagogy at Hampshire College and started my professional journey as a Yachtmaster and coach, which took me around the world and expanded my belief in the possibility of creating a more beautiful world.

Artistry

I trained as a Sogetsu Ikebana instructor in New Zealand while pursuing studies in landscape design and mechanical engineering at Unitec. This unique blend of training allows me to design and build sculptures that seamlessly incorporate living elements.

Inspiration

My work draws inspiration from the creations of artists like Olafur Eliasson, Rikrit Tiravanija, and Paul Chan, as well as the living green walls of Patrick Blanc, the serene temples of Kyoto, the vibrant water gardens of Southeast Asia, and the captivating houseboats of Kashmir.

Mission

I’m passionate about collaborating with others to bring public projects to life and contribute to a solarpunk future. My ongoing study of materials engineering fuels my desire to develop and utilize cradle-to-cradle biomaterials.
